5 Ways to Handle Virtual Assistance Block
A block is familiar with any creative freelancing job. I know I have experienced it when I became a freelance pixel artist and writer. You may know about writer’s block. This is when a writer cannot write because of a lack of inspiration. Believe it or not, this also happens to virtual assistants. That is when routine is just too much.
To understand this, you must first understand why virtual assistance offers a degree of freedom. It is merely because it lies between a day job and a business with the difference that you are advertising yourself.
A business person is free and handles his own time and that is exactly what virtual assistants have the luxury of. They can choose their own time and work with it. However, it is also like a day job because you have to be online at a particular time and achieve outputs with your client as your boss.
With these characteristics, this makes virtual assistance prone to blocks which I call “virtual assistance block”. It happens to everyone and it is normal. But it will all boil down on how you will handle it. Here are some ways to overcome it.
1. Take a Rest
This is one of the most obvious ways on how to overcome any kind of working block. Just stop what you are doing and take a rest. It will get your mind off what you are doing and get you rev up to work later. Just make sure your resting time will not take the whole working time or you will not have the time to deliver an output
2. Refresh Yourself
This is a simple thing I have personally tried and tested. I always go to the fridge to grab a drink whenever I don’t feel like working. Sometime I just end up brushing my teeth or washing my face. It does wonders especially if you are just tired from your day.
3. Take a Day Off
If your mind does not function the way that it should be, then take the day off. It is better to not work than work without passion. After all, you may end up creating a crappy article or design if you are not inspired. Just take the day off but tell your client about it.
4. Get it over with
This is a choice I take at times. Just get the job over with. But remember that this will only apply to simple jobs like submissions and installations. Creative outputs must not be done in a rush. This choice is good because you will find yourself working faster and harder. But then after that, you can take a rest.
These are just some of the things I do. How about you? What do you do when you encounter virtual assistance block? If you have some things that I have not already mentioned, share it.
